Look what's growing!

Well, we are of course! Here we are last week with Kindergarten sharing a collaborative lesson on healthy choices using our weekly reader on the Smart board.

In celebration of Spring and St. Patrick's Day we began our unit by exploring our beautiful outdoor garden with a lesson on plants. We made our own "leprechaun grass" by planting grass seeds in cups.

Also this week we started learning about Dinosaurs in preparation for our trip to the Science Museum next week. We worked in small groups to research on the computer different types and describe them and learn some fun facts about their names and what they mean.

And the most exciting part of our week was learning about leprechauns and building our traps! On Thursday we shared our ideas with our classmates and wrote wonderful stories about what we would do if we actually caught a leprechaun! We had some great ideas!

And although we were visited by a very mischievous leprechaun he escaped our traps to return another year!

March into Spring!!

Our Valentine's celebration started off with an estimation activity where we used candy hearts. We all estimated how many we thought were in the jar and then we counted them together in 2's, 5's and 10's.

Jacob was our winner and came closest to the number correctly!

Then we had a great time making crafts out of paper plates and stickers.
The students really enjoy using pocket charts to sort words and sounds.

Here are some pictures in our dance costumes!

We are really enjoying using all of our activities in our Literacy Centers. We are practicing a lot of skills and challenging ourselves in different ways!

Here we are in our newly finished garden and gazebolearning all about planting from Mrs. Kubach.

We had a wonderful time planting seeds in the beds!

The dance concert was a hit! First grade did a fantastic job!!

Here is our Spring literacy board. We are practicing rebuilding poems, reading and sequencing, and making new words.
